UTILIZATION POTENCY OF PALMAE PLANT FAMILY AT BAJUIN WATERFALL AREA OF TANAH LAUT REGENCY

Abstract: Palmae is one the plant families that can be found in tropical and subtropical regions, Tanah Laut. Bajuin waterfall area is one of the areas with several species of Palmae family. Most part of the Palmae family plants can be utilized such as the fruit and the stem of Cocos nucifera. The Objectives of the research was to determine utilization potency of the Palmae family plant by people at the Bajuin waterfall area. The method used was direct observation with inventory of the Palmae family species that exists at the Bajuin waterfall area. The information and data about utilization potency of the Palmae plant family was obtained by using interview and was supported by secondary data from literature. The results showed that there were 8 (eight) Palmae families species found. 6 (six) of them have the utilization potency. Species of Palmae family that have utilization potency in forms of the stem are Caryota monostachya, Calamus ovoideus, Cocos nucifera, and Areca catechu. Species of Palmae family that has potency in the leaves is Cocos nucifera Species of Palmae family that has potency in the fruits are Salacca edulis, Cocos nucifera, and Areca catechu. Species of Palmae family that has potency in the sap is Arenga pinnata.
